Standards of Excellence for Provider Service

TLC’s Leadership approved Standards of Excellence for Provider Service. The standards are related to the STEEEP (Safety, Timeliness, Effectiveness, Efficiency, Equity, and Patient Centeredness) overall aim for improvement that has been adopted by the University Medical Center. The Standards of Excellence for Provider Service are:

Safety: The patient will feel safe and be safe in the provider’s care. Care will be free of all avoidable error or judgment.

Timeliness: The patient will have access to health care (information or service) needed with no unacceptable delays.

Effectiveness: The provider will provide care that can help the patient and will help the patient avoid care that cannot help. The care provided will be based on the best science available.

Efficiency: The patient’s health team will plan care to avoid wasting the patient’s time, money, or energy.

Equity: The provider will assist the patient in reaching his/her health care goals without regard to race, age, gender, ethnicity, religion, lifestyle, or financial status.

Patient Centeredness: The patient’s medical information belongs to the patient. Care options will be shared with the patient, and care decisions will be consistent with patient preferences, and goals.
